Newsome Band Boosters
Parents and guardians of band students are invited to attend meetings of the Newsome Band Boosters to stay informed of the band’s activities and learn ways to support the music program. The Band Boosters perform a variety of activities including constructing props, maintaining uniforms and equipment, fundraising, coordinating travel/transportation, and chaperoning. In addition to volunteering time, boosters provide the band with community resources including financial support, donations, and access to equipment and facilities.
While meetings are open to all affiliated parents and guardians of current band members, only Booster Members may vote on agenda items.
Memberships include:
$25 Bronze Membership (Includes voting privileges for 1 member)
$50 Silver Membership (Includes voting privileges for 2 members, early entry to concerts and recognition)
$100 Gold Membership (Includes voting privileges for 2 members, early entry to concerts, recognition, a Newsome Band magnet, and free parking for one vehicle at home games)

Being a booster is rewarding and fun! One of our more popular positions is Chaperone. Parent chaperones are a necessary part of moving the band to our scheduled venues including football games, competitions, MPAs, and parades. Hillsborough County requires adult supervision on all school trips. Additionally, parent chaperones assist the band by handling drinking water, loading equipment, and helping students carry equipment on and off of the field. All volunteers must have a completed Y.E.S. form on file with the school district. Sometimes, we have more chaperones than we need. A booster board member uses a fair system of selecting chaperones to travel with the band.
